The founder of the liberal opposition party Yabloko, Grigory Yavlinsky, was hospitalized in Moscow “due to heart problems,” Interfax reported on Monday, September 27.

“Now he’s feeling satisfactory. The doctors are doing whatever is necessary. He will remain under the supervision of doctors for some time,” Yabloko’s press service said in a statement.

Earlier, the Telegram channel Mash reported that 69-year-old Yavlinsky was hospitalized on the night of September 26, after complaining about tightness in his chest, heart palpitations, and difficulty breathing. Mash claimed that Yavlinsky was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat.

Grigory Yavlinsky is one of Yabloko’s three founding members. He was the party’s leader until 2008 and he has chaired Yaboloko’s federal politics committee since 2015.

In 2012, Yavlinsky was hospitalized with chest pain (angina). At the time, it was reported that the politician had repeatedly sought medical treatment for heart disease.
