Yulii Boyarshinov, a defendant in the “Network” (“Set”) terrorism case, has filed a lawsuit demanding compensation for violations related to conditions in pre-trial detention, Znak.com reports.
According to defense attorney Olga Krivonos, Boyarshinov’s cell lacked personal space, as well as places for eating and sleeping due to overcrowding. He was also threatened and beaten by other prisoners.
Boyrashinov is asking for 400,000 rubles (approximately $5,650) in compensation.
Yulii Boyarshinov was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison in connection with the St. Petersburg “Network” terrorism case at the end of June, after pleading guilty to participating in a terrorist group, and to the illegal possession of explosives. Boyarshinov repeatedly complained about being beaten in pre-trial detention during the investigation.
