For the fourth consecutive day, Russia confirms more than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the country’s official count over 165,900

On the morning of May 6, Russian officials announced that the country recorded 10,559 new coronavirus infections in the past day (there were 10,102 new cases than the day before), bringing the nation’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 165,929 patients.

Another 86 people reportedly died from the disease, raising Russia’s total number of fatalities caused by COVID-19 to 1,537. As many as 21,327 people in Russia are known to have recovered fully from the disease, including 1,462 in the past day.

Russia says it’s conducted more than 4.6 million coronavirus tests, so far, including 173,300 in the past day.

According to data published by The New York Times, Russia now has the sixth-highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world, after the United States, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, and Germany.
