Russia's coronavirus numbers jump almost 20 percent in the past day to 1,836 confirmed cases nationwide

In the past day, Russia recorded 302 new cases of coronavirus in 35 regions of the country, raising the national total to 1,836 confirmed cases across 71 different regions. Officially, COVID-19 has now killed nine people in Russia and 66 people have fully recovered.

Once again, most of the new cases in the past day were in Moscow (212), followed by Komi (15 cases) and St. Petersburg (8 new cases).

According to the city's official data, almost half (102) of Moscow's latest confirmed coronavirus infections were recorded among young patients between the ages of 18 and 40. There were also 17 positives among children. 

Russia's Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) says 194,353 Russians were under medical observation for suspected coronavirus infection, as of March 29. The agency says Russian health officials have conducted a total of 343,500 coronavirus tests, so far.
