An American naval attaché, an embassy attaché, and an army attaché were removed from a train in Russia’s Arkhangelsk region on October 14. The three U.S. diplomats were reportedly attempting to enter a closed military territory without permission. They were released after a document check.
The diplomats’ train was on a route from Nyonoksa to Severodvinsk. A naval base near Nyonoksa was the site of a nuclear blast in August 2019. Five people died in the accident, which U.S. government officials claimed was caused by a malfunction during tests for Russia’s “Skyfall” nuclear-powered missile.
The Nyonoksa nuclear incident

- Russian officials have openly acknowledged the country's August 8 nuclear blast. Why did they turn off four nuclear monitoring stations anyway?
- New Russian government data on August 8 explosion reveals that a nuclear reactor was definitely involved
- ‘Somebody wants to distort the truth’ The Kremlin rejects anonymous reports by doctors that the military didn’t warn them about radiation risks after an engine-test explosion
