The Georgian television channel Rustavi 2 has decided not to fire journalist Georgy Gabunia, who spent the first minute of his Sunday show on an obscene tirade targeting Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The channel’s CEO, Nika Gvaramia, said that he and his colleagues consider Gabunia’s behavior “unacceptable” and have placed the television host on leave for two months. After that time, however, he will return to work. Gvaramia also noted that Gabunia did not violate the Georgian Constitution or any statutory laws.
