Putin invites Kim Jong-un to meet in Russia, but the North Korean leader is waiting to see how his summit with Trump goes
Vladimir Putin has invited Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea, to attend an economic forum in Vladivostok in September. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reportedly extended the invitation on May 31, when making his first trip to Pyongyang in almost a decade. Sources told the news agency RIA Novosti that Putin and Kim might meet “on the sidelines” during the forum.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on June 4 that Kim hasn’t yet responded to Putin’s invitation. On June 12, Kim is expected to travel to Singapore for a much anticipated meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
