Staff at an orphanage in Chelyabinsk are back at work, after accusations that they raped several children

All teachers at the Lazurnen Boarding School in Chelyabinsk have returned to work after passing polygraph tests in a criminal investigation into the rape of several children, according to local reporters.

The adoptive mother of one of the children who accused the teachers confirms that the instructors are back at the school. She says psychologists are now examining her 11-year-old son for an overactive imagination.

What’s this case about?

In February, the Investigative Committee charged a man named Sergey Kokorin with rape after seven children came forward with allegations that he regularly came to their orphanage, took them, and raped them. The children also say four teachers and another man raped them, as well.

Law enforcement officials have also opened a criminal negligence case against the boarding school, though no suspects or arrests in this case are known. The Investigative Committee’s central office — not its local branch — is conducting both investigations.
