Three men attack darker-skin passengers in St. Petersburg subway, screaming ‘This train is for whites!’
On December 9, three men in the St. Petersburg subway started attacking passengers and screaming “This train car is for whites!” Police reportedly detained two of the assailants, but the third escaped and fled to Estonia, according to the website Fontanka.
The attackers first shoved a non-Slavic-looking man from the train car and then began brawling with other passengers. The three men were reportedly armed with nunchucks and a knife. There is no information currently about any injuries the victims may have sustained.
The attackers, who claimed to be the victims of the fight, were detained in the subway. When paramedics arrived, the ran away, and police managed to capture two of the three men — both of whom are underage. They have been charged with hooliganism. The third suspect, 21-year-old Nikita Gerasimov, reportedly fled to Estonia. He was a suspect in a 2016 attack on a musician in St. Petersburg, but police ultimately closed their investigation.
