Kaliningrad’s mayor offers some modest advice to his constituents on being in the city during the 2018 World Cup: GTFO
Kaliningrad Mayor Alexander Yaroshuk has some modest advice for the city’s local, come next summer’s World Cup championship: get out of town and take in some nature. He warns that the city will be incredibly crowded thanks to the soccer tournament, and residents with the means to leave should do so.
Transit is expected to come to a standstill, with as many as 100,000 tourists likely flooding the city.
Yaroshuk also asked residents who end up staying in Kaliningrad to be “disciplined, kind, and not to beat up anyone.” If you speak English, show visitors your hospitality, he said.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place between June 14 and July 15 in Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-na-Donu, Samara, Saransk, Sochi, St. Petersburg, and Moscow.
