A fire broke out in Russia’s Investigative Committee’s branch for the Troitsk and Novomoskovsk districts of Moscow. The offices and files on the second floor, namely those dealing with criminal investigations, have burnt down.

The branch has initiated a criminal case on the deliberate destruction of property through fire. Investigators assume that the fire was intentional and meant to destroy case materials in an attempt to avoid facing criminal responsibility.

It was not reported which exact criminal cases had been destroyed.
