Russia's Defense Ministry estimates cost of presidents' funerals

Russia's Defense Ministry has calculated the estimated costs of holding military funerals for the country's presidents, prime ministers, and members of the government at a state cemetery in the Moscow Region.

According to the bill, around 592,000 rubles (approximately $9,498) is expected to be spent on urns to be stored at a columbarium and 706,000 rubles (approximately $11,345) is expected to be spent on funerals for presidents of the USSR and the Russian Federation. Up to 3,927,000 rubles ($63,065) is expected to be spent on the installation of gravestones.

Anywhere between 369,000 and 483,000 rubles (approximately between $5,923 and $7,757) is expected to be spent on the funerals of former and current heads of governments, ministers, chairmen of the State Duma and the Federation Council, and military personnel; and up to 3,575,000 rubles (approximately $57,394) is expected to be spent on their tombstones.

In regards to other politically-important figures, the Defense Ministry anticipates spending between 322,000 and 436,000 rubles (approximately $5,174 to $7,006) on their funerals and up to 2,197,000 rubles (approximately $35,309) on their gravestones.
