Woman fined for lighting up cigarette with war memorial Eternal Flame

The Kislovodsk city court has fined a local woman 950 rubles ($15) for lighting up her cigarette using the Eternal Flame at the city’s main war memorial.

Police officers spotted the woman “ostentatiously” lighting her cigarette with the “Glory to the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War” memorial flame.

The city court ruled the woman had made a public disturbance and “showed a clear disrespect for society.”

The woman has reportedly admitted her guilt and expressed regret at her actions.
