Moscow State University (MSU) and the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) will soon open the first joint Russia-China International University in Shenzhen.

This Friday, May 6, a ceremonial stone plaque was laid at the construction site of the main campus. State Duma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin and PRC State Council Vice President Liu Yandong attended the stone laying ceremony.

This is the first joint Russian-Chinese university. In March this year, the first meeting of the new university’s Russian and Chinese heads took place.

It is expected that up to 5,000 students will begin studies at the Russia-China International University next year.

“Students will be sure to receive practical training at reputable corporations—at least, I can guarantee this in Russia. We have specially invited representatives of world renowned companies to joint the university’s supervisory board: Gazprom, Rosneft, Russian railways, and Rostelecom,” said State Duma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin.
