Austrian death metal frontman reportedly attacks assistant to conservative Russian politician
An aide to the St. Petersburg lawmaker Vitaly Milonov says he was attacked at an airport by Helmuth Lehner, the frontman for the Austrian “blackened death metal band” Belphegor. The aide says he and several conservative activists confronted Lehner at an airport in St. Petersburg, encouraging him to cancel the band’s performance in the city. In response, Lehner allegedly kicked him.
Vitaly Milonov is one of Russia’s best known conservative politicians, campaigning against gay rights and promoting various moral campaigns to defend and develop Russia’s spiritual values.
“Apparently, he doesn’t really understand us, and he mistook what I said for aggression, and he attacked me. He kicked me in the thigh. I’m going to a medical care center to check my injuries,” the aide told reporters.
