Moscow court fines opposition leader 10,000 rubles for attempting a one-man picket against Kadyrov

A Moscow court has fined one of the leaders of the opposition political party Yabloko 10,000 rubles ($135) for trying to stage a one-man picket demanding the resignation of Chechen ruler Ramzan Kadyrov. The court determined that Sergei Mitrokhin violated the “rules for public assemblies and demonstrations.”

Police detained Mitrokhin on January 26 outside Russia's Presidential Administration Building in Moscow. Mitrokhin says police intervened because the demonstration was originally planned to include two demonstrators, not one.
