Russian officials ban another ‘undesirable’ organization: USRF

The USRF undermines foundations of the constitutional order, said a spokesperson in the Attorney General’s Office. USFR head Mark Pomar, a US citizen, is now prohibited from entering Russia until 2025, according to Russian officials.
The USRF has been registered to operate in Russia since 2009. The central focus of the organization is the support of non-profit projects, which aim at economic and legal development in Russia. Three times a year, the USRF provides grants worth as much as $100,000 to non-profit projects.
Among the organization’s programs are the exchange of experience between Russian and American judges, and various projects related to skills development for economists in cooperation with the Yegor Gaidar Foundation.
The USRF joins the National Endowment for Democracy, the Open Society Foundations, and OSI Assistance Foundation as “undesirables” in Russia. In line with Russian legislation, collaboration with such organizations can be a grounds for criminal prosecution.
