Russian passenger flight crashes in Sinai carrying 224 people

On the morning of October 31, a Russian Kogalymavia passenger jet disappeared from radar. The Airbus A321 was traveling from from Sharm el-Sheikh (an Egyptian city on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula) to St. Petersburg. According to reports, the jet's wreckage has been found in a mountainous area of central Sinai. 

The names of all 224 passengers, including the crew, can be found here. According to the list of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia and a report by the news agency FlashNord, one of the passengers on the plane was Pskov Deputy Mayor Alexander Kopylov, who FlashNord says died in the crash.

According to preliminary reports, two of the plane's flight recorders have been recovered. Reports by Kommersant and RIA Novosti claim eyewitnesses saw the plane on fire in midair before it crashed. There are also unverified reports that four survivors have been discovered.
