Parliament member Alexander Sidyakin, a member of Russia’s ruling United Russia party, has filed a request with the Attorney General to check the BBC's Russian-language service for extremism. Earlier today, he posted a copy of his official request to on Twitter.
Sidyakin directed his complaint to a tweet from the official BBC Russian Twitter account. The tweet (found below) referred to the grave of a Soviet soldier and a link to a Russian-language article, titled “The Rape of Berlin” (the English-language version of the article, published several months before its Russian translation, is available here).
The Attorney General’s Office has not yet commented on the issue.
In Germany, they sometimes call this memorial “the grave of the unknown rapist,” but why?

Update: The BBC has apologized for the tweet above and deleted it, saying it does not live up to the outlet's standards for journalism.
