Elderly woman in Volgograd spent 4 months trying to revive her dead husband by pouring holy water over his corpse

An elderly woman in Volgograd reportedly spent the past four months trying to revive her dead husband by pouring holy water over his corpse. The 76-year-old woman cared for her 87-year-old husband since last year, when he fell and injured his leg. The last time neighbors say they saw the husband alive was in reportedly in April.

Last Friday, August 12, downstairs neighbors experienced flooding. When going upstairs, they saw the husband’s corpse. Speaking to the wife, they learned that she believed she could revive her spouse with holy water. She said she’d even asked their children not to visit, telling them that everything was fine. 

Witnesses say the body had practically mummified, and it had been cleaned meticulously. There was no smell of decay, the neighbors told police, who are investigating the incident, but say they don’t plan to bring charges against the wife, as there are no signs on her husband’s body of a violent death.
