An amateur video of a celebration at a kindergarten in the Siberian city of Perm on Thursday, uploaded onto the website of local news source V-kurse.ru, shows various cartoon characters campaigning for members of the “United Russia” political party.

The costumed performers—dressed as Peppa Pig, Fiksik, and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle—rallied the young children participating in an outdoors event in support of United Russia politicians Nikolay Dyomkin and Mikhail Cherepanov, both of whom are running in a primary scheduled to take place this Sunday, May 22.

Currently, Dyomkin is a member of the regional parliament and Cherepanov is a member of the Perm City Duma.

“What are the names of our magicians? Mikhail Cherepanov and Nikolay Dyomkin!” the performers cried repeatedly, before getting the children to express their gratitude to the “magicians” and chant their names together.

Incidentally, Dyomkin has spoken out aggressively against violations of campaign regulations.“The violation of pre-election campaign rules can result in the complete elimination of a candidate from the primaries, [as] such methods can be used to bribe voters or to spread information that discredits a party,” he said recently, according to the news source Business Class.

The human rights group “Golos” says it intends to file a complaint with the Perm District Attorney’s Office regarding the cartoon character’s campaigning efforts.
