A Russian film company is planning a new project called “Era of Prosperity” about the Romanov dynasty, which it says will be the Russian equivalent to the popular HBO show “Game of Thrones.”

According to Alexey Petrukhin, a producer at Russian Film Group, the company “studied [HBO's] business model” and “spoke at length” to George R. R. Martin, the story's creator. “Like in the show [Game of Thrones], we'll have several directors and several graphics technicians, each of whom will follow their own families and their own characters,” Petrukhin explained.

The show has already been greenlit for 12 seasons, each made up of 12 separate episodes. The beginning of the show is set in the Time of Troubles, which lasted from 1598, with the death of the last Russian tsar of the Rurik Dynasty, until 1613, with the establishment of the Romanov Dynasty.

Before the show hits airwaves, a feature length movie is planned for the big screen, arriving in theaters in late 2017. The show won't premiere until early 2018.
