Russia’s delicious hot-dog deception

Source: TJournal

On December 8, two photos of a package of hot dogs starting gaining traction on Russian social media. According to the label on the packaging, the hot dogs come with “two free sausages,” but a side glance at the pack’s main compartment suggests that two hot dogs are simply missing, giving the impression that the “free” sausages merely offset the shortage. The hot dog company in question, “Dymov,” told the website TJournal that the alleged marketing gimmick is merely standard packaging.

A new promotion from Dymov.

According to spokespeople for Dymov, the company’s 464-gram packs of hot dogs have always contained just eight hot dogs, though the packaging for this product could always accommodate another two.

“Fortunately we can help here [with all the confusion]! The secret is that these two hot dogs, which people have almost added to the federal most wanted list, were never in any 464-gram pack. We put 8 hot dogs in the standard packages, and we wanted to add two more as a promotion. For those who doubt us, we’re announcing a super-contest: a year’s supply of hot dogs for anyone who finds a 464-gram pack with 10 hot dogs!” Dymov’s press office said.
