Spongebob Squarepants and Leonardo the Ninja Turtle helped two priests open this cafe for business

At the opening of a cafe in Severodvinsk, in Arkhangelsk (about 800 miles north of Moscow), quite a team of well-wishers assembled last December to throw open the doors of the new business. The cafe, named "Mister Pudding," welcomed Spongebob Squarepants, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (Leonardo, judging by the bandana color), and two Russian Orthodox priests.

When it came time for the ribbon ceremony, Spongebob and Leonardo gracefully held the ribbon, while a priest and a fur-coated woman took scissors to it in unison.

Priests bless the new cafe as an audience gathers.

After the blessing, there was a ceremonial ribbon-cutting. Our costumed heroes assisted.

Mister Pudding debuted in December 2014, but it's taken more than ten months for photos of its opening ceremony to catch notice online and in the media. The business is still afloat today, with nearly 900 subscribers on Vkontakte, Russia's most popular social network. The cafe appears to be a popular location for children's parties, where costumed guests lead dances and other games.
