It’s hard to believe, but we’ve been together for a full decade. For the past 10 years, Meduza has worked tirelessly to tell the truth about Russia and beyond, undeterred by the Kremlin’s constant efforts to silence our voices. During that time, you, our global community of readers, have stood with us, united by a shared commitment to free speech. To mark this milestone, we’ve created a hoodie that reflects that grit and determination — something you can wear proudly to feel closer to this mission and the values we share. We’ll tell you all about it, show you the design, and, of course, let you know where you can get yours. And remember, you’re not just adding to your wardrobe — you’re supporting independent journalism.

Merch with a meaning

In the spring of 2021, Meduza was labeled a “foreign agent” in Russia, leaving us no choice but to launch our first crowdfunding campaign. The response was overwhelming: more than 175,000 of our readers stepped up with donations to keep us going. In solidarity, creative Russian brands also began designing and selling unique items to protest this unjust law and help Meduza survive.

By the end of the year, over 50 amazing products had come out — each with its own story. But after Russia launched the full-scale war against Ukraine and outlawed Meduza, working with us became too dangerous for brands. So, we pressed pause on merch.

Bringing it back — by us, for you!

After three years, we’re releasing our own line of Meduza merch! You’ll find our hoodies and T-shirts exclusively in our online store. For us, this collection is a heartfelt way to say thank you. Meduza has a global community of readers united by a commitment to independent journalism and free speech, and we hope our merch helps you feel connected to that shared mission.

Why hoodies?

We have a special tradition at Meduza: each year, for our anniversary, we design a hoodie just for our team, inspired by the defining events of that year. They always have the word “Meduza” and a unique and meaningful message. In 2022, for example, we printed the word “peace” in the languages of all the countries our team members were forced to relocate to. In 2023, our hoodie featured a cartoon Gorgon holding an enemy’s severed head (yep) with the words “Fear nothing” — a message we really needed back then.

Now, we’ve made hoodies and T-shirts for you, too! The design features the word “Meduza” in lettering inspired by death metal bands (there’s even a meme about it). We chose this look for a reason. First, it captures the intensity of our lives: the challenges we face, the grit and resilience we need, and our growth in the midst of it all. And second, we wanted Meduza to be right there with you — close to your heart, but subtly, so only those in the know can spot it. A small signal that says, “You’re one of us.”

We hope you love it as much as we do

We put a lot into making sure these pieces aren’t just stylish but also comfortable, well-fitting, and built to last. That’s why our hoodies and T-shirts are made from thick, 100% cotton fabric. They’re designed in a relaxed, unisex fit made to look great on everyone. Our hoodies are available in M and L, while T-shirts come in sizes S through XXL, all in classic black — a nod to Meduza’s color scheme (and, unfortunately, to the times we live in).
