Is it a Norwegian prison or a Russian hotel? Test your knowledge of two entirely different worlds

The Norwegian prison system is regarded as one of the most humane in all the world. The sentence of life imprisonment under Norwegian law is restricted to the military penal code, and the total prison population is just 3,700 inmates—174 times fewer people than are locked up in Russia today. (In per capita terms, there are six times fewer people incarcerated in Norway than in Russia.) Norway also has one of the world's lowest rates of repeat offenses, with just 20 percent of inmates returning to prison after being released. Norwegian prison cells look more like hotel rooms than the cold, wet concrete most foreigners expect to find behind bars. There are televisions, refrigerators, and gaming consoles. There are Norwegian prisons that are even equipped with sound-recording studios. But some inmates still aren't satisfied with the accommodations. Anders Breivik, the terrorist who perpetrated the 2011 Norway attacks, complained last month about the “inhuman” conditions of his detention. Meduza presents the following challenge: can you tell the difference between a Russian hotel and a Norwegian prison?
