Investigators will question Navalny about ‘attacking’ a cop

The police showed up at Alexey Navalny’s apartment on Monday and delivered two summons, ordering the opposition politician to report for questioning by the Investigative Committee about injuries reportedly sustained by one of the officers who detained Navalny at Moscow’s January 28 “voters’ boycott” demonstration. A spokesperson for the Investigative Committee has confirmed that Navalny is being called to “explain the circumstances for striking a police officer.”

On January 28, police released Navalny after he was detained earlier that day, requiring him to appear later before a court on charges of repeatedly participating in unpermitted public demonstrations. That hearing has not yet taken place.
