Vladimir Putin’s campaign will toss out the endorsements it collected at two factories in the Kurgan region, following a complaint by local Communist officials that the signatures were recorded at a place of work, in violation of federal election laws. Maiya Grishina, Russia’s Central Election Commission secretary, told reporters that the endorsements won’t be a problem for Putin’s campaign, if they’re never submitted for review.
Putin’s campaign has already collected more than 710,000 signatures endorsing his presidential candidacy, even though he’s only required to get 300,000 as an independent candidate.
