A young woman confined to a wheelchair claims to have been denied access to Harley’s bar in Krasnoyarsk. According to the woman, the bar’s security justified their decision by saying that it would be dangerous for her to be inside the club in the event of a fight breaking out.

The regional branch of Russia’s investigative committee has started looking into the situation.

Rospotrebnadzor – Russia’s consumer rights watchdog – is conducting its own investigation on the side. The watchdog believes that the club’s decision was a violation of the civil rights of Krasnoyarsk’s disabled residents.

Harley’s bar has made a Facebook post communicating its side of the story. The report said that the girl – Anastasia Boyko – was not denied access to the bar because she was in a wheelchair, but because her companions were in a state of extreme intoxication. One of the Boyko’s friends had had a fight with a security guard and was taken to the police station, where a report was filed against him on the accusation of hooliganism.

“People with disabilities come to our bar and face no barriers at the entrance,” read the Facebook post.
