Welcome to Meduza Russia's top news and reporting, in English

Source: Meduza

Welcome to Meduza—your gateway to the world of Russian news. Every day we bring you the most important news and feature stories from hundreds of sources in Russia and across the former Soviet Union.

Meduza is based in Riga, Latvia. Most of the people in our newsroom moved here after resigning from Lenta.ru, when Chief Editor Galina Timchenko was fired in what we believe was an act of censorship. Our team includes some of Russia’s top professionals in news and reporting.

Meduza produces a wide variety of news stories, and here, on its English-language version, you’ll find the stories most vital to understanding what’s really going on in Russia. We translate and tailor these stories, making them accessible to a global audience. We do it fast and we get our facts straight. We also translate original reports by Meduza’s news staff and special correspondents, as well as contribute our own original material.

Serving as Russia’s free press in-exile is a role forced on us, and it’s still new to us. But we value our independence and strive to be a reliable, trusted outlet for objective, verified, and unbiased information about Russia and the former Soviet Union, as well as a source for sharp insights about one of the world’s most enigmatic regions.
